Just Some Of Our SOS Haven Rehab Dogs *past and present*

The Sanctuary offers 'Last Chance' spaces 'Safe Havens' to dogs who would otherwise be put to sleep and those who have behavioural problems that are beyond the experience of their rescues. We set up this much needed service in 2016 to provide a lifeline for rescue dogs needing safety and rehabilitation. The dogs we take in here at the sanctuary have ranging in depth issues: behaviour, aggression, age, disability, human scared, guarding issues etc and some have been subjected to severe neglect, cruelty and abuse. The bottom line is we basically take the animals that stand little or no chance of gaining homes let alone the security of a forever home and we work with them to try to turn them around.

We charge rescue an SOS Rehab fee which covers their care and once (and if) the dogs are ready to be re-homed their rescue gives full rescue back up. We work with them, rehabilitate and help thier rescues to re home them when they are ready.

We also take in unfunded pound dogs who would otherwise be dead today had we not provided them with a safe space and rescue back up and we fund raise ourselves to cover the costs for these dogs which as you can imagine are hefty.

These dogs have a safe, happy, loving place here with us where they are given a last chance.

You can read the SOS Rehab Diaries and follow the progress of these very special animals on our Facebook Group and if you would like further information or to sponsor a sanctuary dog please click here:

Our Sanctuary Dogs

  • Pattie Pattie came to us autumn last year very wary of humans and dog reactive with quite a high prey drive. She is nearing the end of her rehab and returns back to her rescue at the end of the month a much braver girl able to be touched and handled, much less dog reactive and happier in her own skin. Here she is with Mark Foster having been for a walk by the horses and farm animals.
  • Polly Polly came to us with severe human issues and some dog issues she's been with us about a month and doing so well. We are playing invisible dog with her and doing a lot of touch work.
  • Bailey A fear reactive little rommie is getting a lot more confident in meeting new people but still has a way to go and will need a staged process back into the domestic world again. He's been enjoying his grooming sessions and handling and has lots of snack times planned with new people to help his trust issues. He is already less reactive, sitting for treats and interacting.
  • Joseph Little Joseph from NFAR Rescue is a sweet, cuddly lad with severe reaction issues. He has settled well on the yard and we are working steadily with him to overcome his problems. UPDATE: Joseph did well with his rehab and has now returned to his rescue.
  • Harley Harley is a bichon cavalier and had some guarding issues of people, items and resources. He came into a puppy haven as he needed to come in quickly. He completed his rehab and returned to his rescue.
  • Lola Another Lola! EBT girl whose story is complicated and controversial but she is safe now in EB and will come into the sanctuary as soon as we have a space. She is dog reactive and also has fixation issues with objects and people which we will work on but if necessary she has a lifetime space here with us.
  • Benny Benny is a Bull X who is reactive. He falls under Laura La Humphries Rescue and came to stay so we could work on his issues. He was a lovely lad and has now returned to his rescue.
  • Lola Lovely Lola has been out for adoption and foster and sadly struggled in the home environment with new people, mainly men. She is a rommie and has been here in the UK for a while. UPDATE: Lola is in long term foster and doing very well.
  • Maggie Maggie is a staffy girl with complex dog reactive/aggression issues. She will be in EB for c2 months until she can come into an SOS Rehab space. UPDATE: Maggie has moved into foster.
  • Patch Patch is only a baby really but can be fear reactive. He was a surrender to NFAR and had been in kennels. The world was a very scary place for him. He has now returned to his rescue after a period of successful rehab.
  • Scoobie Scoobie came in under Marley's Dog Rescue, he had a range of issues and was fear reactive to both new people and dogs. He settled in well did fantastically with his rehab and was a right smasher. Happily he has now been adopted.
  • Charlie Little Charlie has been in foster for about a year and is fear reactive and although improving under the great care of Tracie Gledhill he needs a one on one environment for a while in order to be the boy we know he can be.
