"It's my favourite day of the week it's such a privilege to help in any small way I can xxx" Sandra Umfreville
Meet Our Fabulous Sanctuary Team!
Teresa Green is irreplaceable, Joys right hand lady and more like part of the sanctuary than a volunteer. She has been the main stay of the sanctuary as we have expanded, helping with some of the most difficult dogs and situations on site.
Dave O Brien (the Sanctuaries muscle) gives up and devotes every weekend to the Sanctuary keeping on top of our continual maintenance and helping Joy with all the heavy jobs....you name it, he does it! He was also an integral part of our big re-build last year and we honestly don't know what we would do without his continual help.
Mark Foster who volunteers for us two days a week worked with Dave on the re-build last summer and has now started working more with the dogs on SOS, exercising some of the bigger sanctuary dogs, working with the dog reactive dogs and generally becoming a much valued part of the fixtures and fittings.
Sandra and Nick Umfreville Sandra is another key weekly volunteer and helps with a lot of the SOS and more human reactive dogs making herself indispensable to Joy. Along side Joy, she also works closely with a set group of dogs who have challenging and complex problems. Nick helps out generally, giving the dogs attention and lots of walks.
Linda Emmens is our invaluable volunteer at our principle emergency boarding in Stoke. She regularly visits all the dogs belonging to rescues who are due to come to the Sanctuary for SOS Rehab. She takes them treats and spends one on one time with each of them making our EB a loving, happy holding place until they reach thier Havens and providing us with any information on each dog that may be relevant to thier rehab.
Sheralyn Stuckey is so many things to the Sanctuary, not only does she fund raise with auctions, boot sales, baking and jumbles she also comes out most weeks and helps with exercising dogs like Harry and Beau and spends time with some of the human scared dogs. The woofa's always know she is on her way because they can smell the sausages she cooks and brings for them!
Jenny Hosking helps out on the weekends, she has experience with her own two packs of rommies that are human wary and she spends a good few hours quality time with ours as well as looking after their runs etc. She happily sits in with them for hours giving them lots of human interaction and of course snacks and treats.
Louise Chambers and her Mum, Jackie Pell are regular volunteers who visit us weekly and have their own assigned packs that they spend time with, grooming and generally lavishing with cuddles and treats.
Sally Larcombe recently joined us. Sally has her own packs of dogs she visits. She grooms and spends time with them giving them lots of one on one contact. and provides much needed playtime and walks for the Sanctuary dogs on a weekly basis...something that helps us enormously and we are always looking for. She also helps out with our fundraising.
Lynda Stanworth fund raises for us and comes up now and again on her days off to help out with all sorts of jobs around the Sanctuary and giving out cuddles to the animals.
Jeff Slough built, gifted and maintains our fabulous website which has enabled us to reach out to far more people and has played a massive part in raising funds for our rebuild and the general upkeep of the Sanctuary. We don't honestly know what we would do without it now!
Jacqueline Hawkins Durnford spends her time collecting and dropping off donations to the Sanctuary, things like bedding and winter warmers which are consumable, essential and very much needed!
We also have other amazing volunteers that are in and out due to personal commitments like Judy Brooker who has snack and grooming time with the long term rommie packs. If you fancy joining us just hit the link Volunteer
